Laboratory Testing

TECLAB is the leading independent construction materials testing laboratory in East Africa, emphasizing quality assurance through diverse sampling and testing methods. We adhere to local and international standards like AASHTO, BSI, EN 196, ASTM, and various infrastructure ministries’ specifications for top-notch service. With a quality management system following ISO 9001:2015 principles and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, we perform tests accurately and promptly, covering a wide range of core laboratory tests.

Site Investigations

Our site investigations provide cost-effective solutions to minimise risks in construction projects, offering structural and geotechnical advice to prevent potential failures. Our experienced staff, with a background in diverse projects like dams and highways, focus on sustainable value engineering. Proactive identification and correction of site issues optimise capabilities, saving time and cutting construction costs.

Geotechnical Investigations

We are the top provider of geotechnical site investigations, offering services from materials sampling to preparing Interpretative Reports. Expert engineers handle desk studies, ground investigations, and deliver reports for various projects like buildings, roads/bridges, and oil facilities. Our geotechnical team focuses on the impact of ground behaviour, utilising a GIS database for effective planning. Services include borehole drilling, SPT, CPT, and laboratory tests for thorough assessments.

Structural Integrity Assessments

We specialises in both Destructive and Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) for materials like concrete, steel, bricks, and mortar, aiming to assess distress levels in operational buildings. Through a range of techniques such as visual inspections, measurements, photography, probing, and sampling, we conduct thorough assessments that offer insights into stress analysis, material behaviour, and failure mechanics.

Pavement Assessments

We offer streamlined pavement assessments to support optimal pavement design processes. The services provided encompass a range of key techniques, including Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD) surveys, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) analysis for pavement and utility detection, as well as quantitative and qualitative measurements of pavement layers.

Geophysical Investigations

We conduct geophysical investigations using Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to measure soil and rock resistivity at different depths. These ERT methods, combined with boreholes, allow for vertical resistivity profiling. We also perform seismic refraction tests to assess bedrock depth and rippability.

Geotechnical Design and Analysis

Our experienced team specialises in designing and analyzing various geotechnical structures for projects such as foundations, retaining walls, and embankments. We have worked on a diverse range of ventures including roads, bridges, energy projects, and railways, with expertise in flood defence structures and bunkers. Utilising advanced software and local knowledge, We provide customised, cost-effective solutions for each project
